How to Request an Appointment
You can request an appointment in the following ways:
Face to Face Appointments
Appointments can be booked up to three months in advance. We also have appointments available to book on the day – you will need to ring at 08:00 for on the day appointments.
You may be asked by the receptionist the reason for the appointment. This is so that we can book you in with the right person, or so that we can deal with requests more efficiently either by a telephone appointment or a message to the GP, nurse or clinical pharmacist.
It is not always necessary to see the GP for renewal of sick notes or repeat prescriptions. If you are unsure, please speak to a receptionist.
Some problems do not need a face-to-face appointment and can be dealt with by telephone.
If you are discussing an ongoing problem please request your usual doctor and advise the receptionist of the reason for this. The receptionists may ask you for more information regarding the problem so that they can book your telephone appointment with the most appropriate doctor or nurse.
When your telephone appointment is booked, the receptionist will give you an estimated time window for when the doctor or nurse will call – we are unable to specify an exact time as this varies depending on visit requests and emergency appointments. It is important to keep us updated of your current telephone number.
Clinical Pharmacist Appointments
Please call the surgery to book an appointment with our clinical pharmacist for the following:
- Medication reviews
- Weight management reviews
- Asthma reviews
- Blood pressure checks
Just as when you see a GP or practice nurse, you will see a clinical pharmacist in a private consultation room.
Seeing the pharmacist does not replace an appointment with a doctor, you will still be able to see your GP if you need to.
A clinical pharmacist will not give you your medicines. You should collect your medicines from a community pharmacy.
Humera has appointments available in the practice and she can visit you at home if you are a housebound patients.
You may be asked by the receptionist when booking your appointment with the nurse what the appointment is for. This ensures that enough time is allocated for your appointment.
Cancelling an Appointment
If you are unable to keep an appointment please let us know as soon as possible – this may enable someone else to be seen.
