INFORMATION REGARDING CORONA VIRUS

If a patient experiences a cough, fever, or shortness of breath and has travelled here from one of the areas listed below in the last 14 days, they should remain at home, avoid contact with other people and call 111 to advise of their recent travel.

The current list of areas is:

Mainland China

Thailand

Japan

Republic of Korea

Hong Kong

Taiwan

Singapore

Malaysia

Macau

Typical symptoms include fever and a cough which may progress to severe pneumonia. Generally, symptoms are more severe for those with weakened immune systems, older people and those with long term conditions.

Tips on preventing infection:

avoid direct hand contact with your eyes, nose and mouth

avoid contact with people that have a respiratory illness and avoid using their personal items such as a mobile phone

maintain good hand hygiene, including wahsing your hands with soap or sanitiser after coughing, sneezing or going to the toilet and prior to eating and drinking

cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing with disposable tissues and disposing of them in nearest bin after use

There is currently no evidence that face masks are effective in stopping the spread of the virus.
