- APPOINTMENTS
Our reception team are doing their upmost to get you an appointment within 2 weeks. Please be aware that it is not always possible to see a GP, however, we do offer the following services:
- Enhanced Services – This service offers evening and weekend appointments for face-to-face GP appointments, telephone appointments (Saturday), blood appointments, nurses smear appointments, asthma review appointments.
(if you are having bloods taken, you must collect your blood form/bels from us to take to our appointment, if you do not, then they will not take your bloods)
- Pharmacy First. We can book you a consultation with a pharmacist re the following conditions:
Uncomplicated urine infections (women 16 – 64 years)
Sore throat (aged 5 years and over)
Earache (aged 1 – 17 years)
Impetigo (aged 1 and over)
Infected insect bites (aged 1 and over)
Shingles (aged 18 years and over)
Sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
A highly trained pharmacist will be able to assess and treat patients for the above without the need for a GP appointment or prescription. Pharmacy First can supply prescription only medicines including antibiotics and anti-viral where clinically appropriate.
- Physiotherapist – First Contact Physio
We have 2 x physiotherapists here at the practice – Thomas and Gary. Receptionists can book you an appointment directly with them for any musculoskeletal issue, back pain, joint pain – without needing to see a GP first. Gary and Thomas can also make referrals where needed.
- Medication Reviews
Our pharmacist Zara and Saira conduct medication reviews either face to face or via telephone. They can also do blood pressure checks.
- Mental Health Review
Our mental health practitioner Mani can see you face to face or via telephone re your mental health issues.
- Emergency Walk-In
Trafford General or Wythenshawe Hospital
- Travel Vaccines & Immunisations. – You must have completed a travel form online or via reception so that the nurses can check where and when you are travelling and what vaccinations are required. Once they have been checked the information the nurses will send you a text message to book an appointment
Immunisations – these appointments are booked with our nurses.
Covid Spring Booster Vaccines – available aged 75 years and over and immunosuppressant individuals – have you had your spring booster?
Measles Immunisations – Has your child been vaccinated?
Whooping Cough – Has your child been vaccinated, also pregnant ladies have you been vaccinated?
Flu vaccines – we will be booking appointments for this from September onwards
- ONLINE CONSULTATIONS
You can access this facility via the Brooklands Medical Website (www.brooklandsmedicalpractice.co.uk) . This is a quicker way to contact your GP. Our response time will be within 2 working days or less. You can access:
- General health query,
- Sicknotes (repeat sicknotes only)
- Travel vaccines
- NEW TELEPHONE SYSTEM
You may have noticed when you have telephoned the practice that we now have a new telephone system. This can recognise your telephone number and will show the receptionist your name. If you have changed your contact telephone number recently then please telephone the practice and update your records accordingly. Also, if possible, please provide an emergency next of kin details if we do not already have this information on file.
Prescription Requests can no longer be taken via telephone unless you are a housebound patient. Please contact your nominated pharmacy who will send a request on your behalf. Alternatively, if you don’t already have patient access the please call into reception to complete a form and provide ID to set up your account.
- OTHER SERVICES
- Removal OF Stitches & Change of Dressings – We do not have the facility to deal with these here at the practice therefore the patient is required to telephone The Forum Wythenshawe on 0300 303 9650. Please note that the patient must take their hospital letter with them to show the hospital has requested the removal of stitches or change of dressings. If you do not have this letter, then they will not see you.
